FAQs

What type of testing do you offer?

HIV, Hepatitis C, Gonorrhea, Chlamydia, and Syphilis. The HIV and Hepatitis C results are rapid and you get the same day. The other test results take about 7 to 14 days to come back.

Is your testing free?

Yes, it is free. Once every 90 days.

Do you give test results over the phone?

No. You can call to see if they are back and come pick them up. Or you can ask our receptionist about our patient portal and set up a login to receive them electronically.

If tests are positive, do you provide treatment?

If you test positive for HIV or HCV, we will link you to care with a provider in your area. If you test positive for any STI’s, we will treat you for free once at our clinic Wright Wellness Center.

What is a Sexually Transmitted Infection (STI)?

STIs are transmitted through unprotected sexual intercourse, intravenous drug use, or nonsexual contact such as childbirth or breastfeeding. Having unprotected sex with someone infected with an STI will more than likely lead to an infection.

Do I have an STI?

STIs are more common than most people believe. Some STIs do not show symptoms, so the only way to confirm that you are infected is to get tested. You can unknowingly be infected and transmit STIs to others.

How do you test for STI's?

Our Chlamydia and Gonorrhea tests are performed using a urine sample. HIV, Hepatitis C, and Syphilis tests are performed using a blood sample.

Are STI's Curable?

Most sexually transmitted infections are curable if detected early; though some, like HIV, can only be managed.

Do Condoms prevent all STI's?

Latex or polyurethane condoms help prevent transmission of most STIs but even condoms are not 100% guaranteed to prevent all infections.

Is a cold sore a symptom of herpes?

Yes, cold sores are a symptom of Herpes Simplex Virus-1 (Herpes 1). Herpes 1 is easily transmitted through kissing or oral sex.
