Dr. Bambi W. Gaddist received a B.S from Tuskegee University in the area of Physical Education and Health, a M.S in Physical Education Administration/Health from Indiana University, and completed Doctoral studies in the areas of Human Sexuality and Family Life Education at the University of South Carolina. She maintains a passion for education, particularly among adolescents and young adults, and seeks to address their sexuality issues, as well as create strategies that reduce the negative consequences of early or irresponsible sexual involvement. She currently serves as Executive Director of the South Carolina HIV/AIDS Council, a 501 (c) 3, non profit organization located in Columbia, South Carolina. She is a published author and consults with a host of national and local organizations including the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, American Association of Health Education, National Association of STD Directors, the SC Department of Health and Environmental Control to name a few. She is married to Mr. Bernard Gaddist and has a daughter, Kialeah and two grandsons, Nyheme and Chase. She attends Brookland Baptist Church in Columbia, South Carolina, where she seeks to use her God given talents to make a difference in the lives of who may be less fortunate or in need of a helping hand.

Nurturing The Tree Of Life HIV/AIDS Prevention Initiative
- Provides technical support within five (5) of seven historically black colleges and universities (HBCU's) in South Carolina. Collaborates with collegiate Directors of Health and Freshman Seminar Programs in the area of HIV/AIDS and Alcohol and Other Drug Prevention, so as to promote peer health advocate outreach initiatives on all and/or selected campuses.
- Creates and coordinates evaluation protocol of HIV/AIDS education modules currently integrated into freshman seminar programs;
- Coordinates and assist in the selection and training of collegiate and technical school peer educators and adult mentors;
- Coordinates process and impact evaluation for each phase of the pilot initiative.

- Provided technical assistance, evaluation consultation, and coordinated state-wide programs in comprehensive health and health promotion initiatives, utilizing a mobile health education van.
- Provided staff development and curriculum training to teachers, administrators, and laypersons in the area of human sexuality, including HIV/AIDS and family life education.
- Conducted model health instruction lessons for teachers of school age youth
(K-12th grades); youth in high risk situations and/or practicing high risk behavior.
- Served as Department of Education liaison to assist in multi-agency collaborative efforts, regional and community-based initiatives for school health education, grass root interventions, and programs addressing the needs of higher-risk youth.
