Mobile Unit

The South Carolina HIV/AIDS Council (SCHAC) has a Community Outreach Mobile Unit, funded under the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention National Centers for HIV, STD and TB Prevention Division of HIV/AIDS Prevention Branch. The mission of the Mobile Outreach Unit is to provide screening services with communities. The staff provides rapid HIV testing using a rapid testing technology – 10 to 20 minutes for results. This multipurpose unit is equipped with a CLIIA waived laboratory and has the ability to administer screenings in a confidential setting. The Mobile Unit staff are certified phlebotomist trained to conduct blood draws when needed.

During the Mobile Unit's visit to your community you can receive free HIV/STI information, confidential risk reduction counseling, raffle prizes, refreshments, music, safer sex barriers, all done in a compassionate manner.

Service Areas Include:

  • Lexington County
  • Richland County
  • Newberry County
  • Fairfield County
  • and other areas include the Health Region III

To schedule the Mobile Unit in your community, please call SCHAC at 803-254-6644, Vivian Clark-Armstead, Coordinator, or F. LaMont Adams, Supervisor.

Please check the web page for The Mobile Unit Schedule in your area.
